Aggie men falter in doubles

TULSA, Okla. - Texas A&M's Conor Pollock and Chris Chirico fell in the round of 16 in the qualifying doubles draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship held Wednesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Pollock and Chirico lost in a tiebreaker to the No. 29 nationally ranked doubles team of Nick Cavaday and Jay Weinacker of North Carolina State 9-8 (7). The Aggie duo reached the next round with a 9-7 victory over Kentucky's No. 1 doubles combination of Marcus Sundh and Will Ward in the round of 32.

"Conor and Chris did pretty well for just their second tournament of the fall season," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "We competed hard today and made a statement that we are going to be pretty solid in doubles this year."

Pollock and senior All-American Jerry Makowski will compete in Thursday's singles main draw. Makowski will open play in the round of 64 against Hawaii's Andreas Weber and Pollock will face South Alabama's Marek Sramek.
