Sawyers joins A&M baseball staff

Andy Sawyers has joined the Texas A&M baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach.

Sawyers, 32, will handle the outfielders and assist with hitters. He comes to A&M after five seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Nebraska.

Prior to Nebraska, Sawyers served as head coach at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College for two seasons. During his tenure, the Dragons went 87-30, reaching the postseason in both of his seasons as head coach.
