The Texas A&M softball team will play a 5 p.m. doubleheader against McLennan College at the Aggie Softball Complex to open fall exhibition play. The Aggies return 12 letterwinners from a squad that reached the Women's College World Series. NFCA All-Americans Megan Gibson and Amanda Scarborough lead the way. Gibson hit 13 home runs last season, while Scarborough was the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. New faces on the roster are freshmen Rhiannon Kliesing (Pearland), Kara Rau (League City), Kelsey Spittler (Caldwell), Natalie Villarreal (Frisco) and Andrea Tovar (Seguin), and junior transfer Erin Blasco (Johnston City, Ill./Notre Dame). "The players and coaches, alike, are eager to get on the field and get the fall games under way," A&M head coach Jo Evans said. "Our fall game schedule is a very critical time of the year for us because it allows us to incorporate the new players into the program. It sets the table from which we will build our team going into the spring season."
