LAWRENCE, Kan. -ÊTexas A&M's Amanda Scarborough pitched 6 1/3 no-hit innings to lead the fifth-ranked Aggies to a 13-0 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday in Big 12 Conference softball play. Scarborough lost her no-hitter on Amanda Jobe's sharply hit grounder up the middle. Shortstop Macie Morrow knocked down the ball, but was unable to make the throw to first in time. Jobe was retired on the play by trying to advance on Morrow's throw that got by first baseman Megan Gibson. KU's Val Chapple lined out to Morrow to end the game. "Amanda came about as close as you can to throwing a perfect game," said A&M head coach Jo Evans, who won her 400th game with the Aggies. "I thought she looked like she was in total control, she was ahead of hitters. I'm really proud of our defense; Macie did all she could to try to keep the no-hitter in tact and made a nice play." Scarborough (17-4) struck out 10 as A&M (34-6, 7-3) completed the two-game sweep of KU (27-16-1, 3-6). Scarborough was supported by a 16-hit attack as 11 different batters had hits. Sharonda McDonald, Gibson, Scarborough, Jamie Hinshaw and Lisa Gorzycki each had two hits. Gorzycki had both of her hits in the seventh as the Aggies batted around to score six. Hinshaw had three runs batted in, while Gibson, Scarborough and Mandy Gegen each had two. Alex Reynolds had the lone home run.
