Texas A&M first baseman Amanda Scarborough belted a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to lift the fourth-ranked Aggie softball team to a 7-5 victory over Ill-inois on Sat-urday at the Aggie Soft-ball Complex. A&M (18-2) has swept all four of its games at the Aggie Invitational. Earlier Saturday, the Aggies routed McNeese State 19-2. Against Illinois (10-9), the Aggies trailed 5-2 heading into the final inning but rallied with five runs on four hits. Second baseman Joy Davis and centerfielder Sharonda McDonald started the rally with singles. Jamie Hinshaw loaded the bases with a one-out single, and Megan Gibson walked to cut Illinois' lead to 5-3. Scarborough blasted an 0-1 pitch for the game-wining homer. The Aggies scored 15 runs in the first inning against McNeese State (9-17). Outfielder Bailey Schroeder hit a grand slam in the opening frame. Megan Gibson also hit a three-run homer, and shortstop Macie Morrow added a two-run homer in the fourth as part of the Aggies' 19-hit attack against McNeese State.
