HUNTSVILLE - Megan Gibson went 3 for 3 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs to pace the fourth-ranked Texas A&M softball team to a 9-0 shutout of Sam Houston State in front of an SHSU school-record 709 fans at the Bearkat Softball Complex on Wednesday. A&M designated player Holly Ridley belted a two-run homer to open the scoring in the top of the second. In the third, A&M's Sharonda McDonald reached on a bunt, stole second and scored when Macie Morrow, who was 2 for 3, singled to left field. Morrow later scored on Gibson's first home run of the game, her fifth of the season. Morrow doubled home pinch-runner Kristine Test and Joy Davis in the fourth to give the Aggies a 7-0 lead. Gibson added a solo homer in the fifth, when the Aggies (14-2) scored two more runs to bring the run rule into effect. In the circle, Gibson earned her seventh victory of the season, throwing four complete innings to remain undefeated this year. She gave up two hits and one walk while striking out two. A&M's Lisa Gorzycki pitched the final inning for A&M, allowing one hit and striking out one. Morgan Mikulin (4-3) suffered the loss for Sam Houston State (5-6).
