TUCSON, Ariz. - Fourth-ranked Arizona held off No. 2 Texas A&M, 6-2, on Sunday to win the three-game series at Hillenbrand Stadium. Arizona took the series, 2-1, and evened the season series against the Aggies (13-2), who beat the Wildcats two weeks earlier in a tournament. Freshman shortstop Macie Morrow went 3 for 4 and Megan Gibson hit her fourth home run of the season for the Aggies, who dropped to 13-2. Morrow delivered an RBI double in the seventh inning and Jamie Hinshaw reached base on an infield single to give the Aggies hope. However, Arizona reliever Taryne Mowatt entered the game and struck out Amanda Scarborough, Gibson and Jami Lobpries to earn her second save. Catcher Callista Balko hit two home runs for Arizona, one in the Wildcats' three-run fifth inning. Scarborough (6-2) allowed five runs on 10 hits in five innings, striking out four. The Aggies will play at Sam Houston State at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
