Ags' Jones needs help from team
Published Saturday, December 10, 2005Billy Gillispie nearly had tears in his eyes late Tuesday night. Just thinking about his big sophomore was enough to choke him up.
Joseph Jones has that effect on people.
And Tuesday might have been the big fella's best performance. The 6-foot-9 center from Normangee played 39 minutes on a bum knee and a sick stomach. The only minute he didn't play? That turned into a quick sprint to the locker room so he could throw up.
Corbelli, Aggies left to watch
Published Friday, December 9, 2005It's a two-minute walk from Laurie Corbelli's office to the NCAA volleyball tournament, but the gulf seems wider. And Corbelli, Texas A&M's winningest volleyball coach, says she won't cross it.
"It's killing me," Corbelli said. "I don't want to walk over there."
The Aggies are hosting a four-team NCAA regional this Friday and Saturday at G. Rollie White Coliseum. That's hosting, not playing. Northwestern knocked A&M out of the NCAAs in the first round last week, so the closest the Aggies can get to the tournament this weekend will be from the stands.
